The ACCC has given the thumbs up to an $8.8 billion merger between Chemist Warehouse and Sigma Healthcare, accepting a legally-binding undertaking proposed by the pair that allays the concerns of the consumer watchdog and means the deal will not be anticompetitive.
The undertaking, proposed a month ago, ensures the merged entity will not be able to use contracts signed by retail pharmacies with the wholesale part of the business to reduce competition for the company's banner stores, one of the main concerns raised by the ACCC in June.
