CW-Sigma merger faces first hurdle

The ACCC has put the brakes on the planned merger between Chemist Warehouse and Sigma Healthcare over concerns the deal may reduce competition in the pharmacy sector and impact the supply of prescription medicines.
The Commission listed five issues that "may raise concerns", mostly dealing with the vertically integrated nature of the planned merged entity. It has not yet reached any conclusions on the issues.
