In a move that will dramatically improve the results of lung cancer treatment in Australia, the Federal Government will announce $263.8 million in funding over four years for a National Targeted Lung Cancer Screening Program.
It comes after the Medical Services Advisory Committee (MSAC) recommended the program last October in response to an application by Cancer Australia. It will be the first new national cancer screening program in nearly 20 years, and will commence by July 2025.
