Another domino falls for drug in TGA probe

It's not looking good for CSL Vifor's Tavneos in Australia with a pair of jurisdictions removing authority to supply it in their regions - the UK the latest to cut the drug.

The TGA announced it was officially reviewing the benefits and risk of Tavneos at the beginning of August, following reports of eight deaths overseas and allegations trial results were manipulated.

Since then two other regions have withdrawn approval to supply the drug. In Australia it earned $32.8 million in pre-rebate R/PBS reimbursements for the financial year ending June 2026. It's subsidised for the treatment of granulomatosis with polyangiitis and microscopic polyangiitis.
