CSL ends next-gen vaccine collaboration

CSL and Arcturus have ended their collaboration to develop sa-mRNA vaccines, with the Aussie giant citing broader market considerations behind the decision and leaving the door open for future investment in the technology.

San Diego-based Arcturus announced the end of the deal in its second quarter financial results. CSL said that the termination reflects broader market, regulatory, and investment considerations, rather than the underlying science.

"We've reviewed this collaboration in the context of an evolving external environment and our broader strategic priorities," a CSL spokesperson told Pharma in Focus. "While we continue to see scientific promise in sa‑mRNA, we have taken the decision to prioritise investment in other areas."
