Who's leading Australia's drug charge?
With 10 applications on the TGA’s review list, AstraZeneca is at the forefront of bringing new therapies to Australia, followed by Novartis with eight.
As of the 5 June, the TGA has 115 prescription medicine applications, spanning new medicines, new combinations, and new indications, on its desk for review. Although some of these applications, which were accepted between September 2024 and May 2026, have since been approved.
Of AstraZeneca’s 10 applications, three are for new drugs that form part of the company’s 25-plus blockbuster hopefuls, which it expects to help generate US$80 billion in total revenue by 2030.
