New competency pillar unveiled

LifeSciences Australia has added a fifth competency to the national professional standard, adding ethics as the 'core of the core'.
The peak body for Australia's life sciences professionals has updated its Core Competency Framework, which defines the knowledge, skills, behaviours, and attributes required for effective practice across the sector. The 2026 edition puts the new domain of Ethics, Integrity and Patient-Centricity at the centre of the other four in the framework's architecture.
