Medicines Australia members spent more than $34 million combined on medical education between May and December last year, the latest transparency figures show with close to $5 million more splashed on grants.
The money sponsored independently organised educational activities, primarily offered by learned societies, colleges, universities, and other recognised healthcare professional organisations. While pharmas have reported sponsorship amounts since 2023, the latest edition of the MA Code of Conduct changed the reporting period to correlate with the halves of the year, and the transition sees this reporting period being a one-off eight months from May to December 2025.
