Cloud over PBAC drug after 27 deaths

Safety concerns have been raised about a cancer drug being launched in Australia after trial results revealed 27 deaths - three times higher than the standard of care.

Switzerland-based ADC Therapeutics is developing Zynlonta, which is sponsored in Australia by Swedish Orphan Biovitrum (SOBI). The CD19-targeting antibody-drug conjugate has already been to PBAC once and after a rejection it is set to return again in July.
