Average pay across the Australian pharmaceutical, biotechnology and life sciences sectors has stalled since last year, but employers are being warned lack of career progression is also driving employees to seek new opportunities.
According to the Hays Salary Guide FY26/27 just over a third (37 per cent) of life sciences professionals reported salary increases between 2.5 and five per cent, largely driven by cost-of-living adjustments rather than structural increases. Around one in eight (13 per cent) report salary increases below 2.4 per cent, and one in five (19 per cent) report no salary change at all.
