Middle managers: heroes or villians?

Middle managers have copped the brunt of downsizing across pharma, branded as bureaucrats and blamed for slowing companies down, but experts are warning that sacking them could be a big mistake.
A study published in the Journal of Management Studies, co-authored by Monash Business School Professor of Strategy & International Business, Mariano Heyden, said middle managers hold a vital position in companies as a nexus for both informational and social interactions in companies.
