The Labor Party has announced it will reduce the PBS co-payment to $25 from 1 January 2026 if re-elected, a replay of a popular policy it went to the polls with at the last election.
Announced at the Australian Pharmacy Professional Conference and Trade Exhibition today, the policy would see Australians save more than $200 million a year on filling prescriptions. It will be covered by a $689 million investment over four years in next week's Budget, and will see four out of five PBS medicines become cheaper.
