Spring blooms with fresh PBS listing

A first-of-its-kind targeted treatment for Australians with kidney disease caused by lupus will be reimbursed from next month.

Roche's Gazyva has won a PBS listing from 1 September for about 3,500 Australians with severe kidney disease caused by lupus, known as lupus nephritis. It will be taken in addition to existing treatment.

“The addition of this new therapy to the PBS is a significant development in how we treat lupus-related kidney disease in Australia,” Monash University and Monash Health Director of Rheumatology, Professor Eric Morand said.
