First win for J&J over alleged ineffective medicine

Johnson & Johnson has won a soft class closure in the class action against it accusing the pharma giant of knowingly selling a medication that was ineffective.

The ruling by Federal Court Justice Mark Moshinksy means only people registered with the class action led by Baden Green by a certain deadline can take part in a possible settlement. Failing a settlement, the class re-opens and everyone is included again.

The class action covers 21 cold and flu medication sold under the Benadryl, Codral, and Sudafed brand names, now owned by Kenvue, with claims the active ingredient phenylephrine is ineffective.
