What happened to the Aussie pharma career ladder?
There has been a major shift away from vertical career progression in Australian pharma with new research showing 95 per cent of roles are requiring candidates to move "sideways".
According to industry insights by specialist pharma recruitment firm Heng & Hurst, time-based promotions and linear career paths are becoming less common as industry evolves under the pressure of restructures and redundancies.
Heng & Hurst Recruitment Consultant Krista Midri, who worked in sales at Novartis for more than a decade, said tighter headcounts had pushed companies to become "more creative". She said the traditional career model had significantly changed.
