GBMA calls for supply chain overhaul
The Generic and Biosimilar Medicines Association (GBMA) has launched a White Paper calling for coordinated action to strengthen Australia’s medicine supply and shift the focus from reacting to shortages to preventing them before they occur.
The paper entitled ‘No Patient Left Waiting: A Reform Roadmap for Medicine Supply Resilience’ was informed by GBMA’s inaugural Medicines Supply Resilience Summit and subsequent discussions with patient, clinical pharmacy, and medicines-industry stakeholders.
It sets out practical reforms the GBMA believes are needed now to strengthen PBS sustainability, improve early coordination and communication, and streamline regulation without lowering safety or quality standards.
