'GLP-1 Brides' have a new problem to weigh

Brides-to-be have one more thing to worry about: they’re losing so much weight on GLP-1 drugs that the dresses they ordered no longer fit them. And some are even resorting to plastic surgery to tighten sagging skin and replace weight in places they didn’t want to lose it. 

Ten per cent of couples planning a wedding this year are using GLP-1s, and a further 10 per cent are considering it, according to a survey by US wedding planning platform Zola. In addition, 42 per cent of couples say easier access to weight-loss medications has increased the pressure to “look a certain way” for their wedding.

Rebecca Schoneveld, who runs a “size-inclusive” wedding dress shop in New York, told The Guardian that in the past many brides would tell her they were hoping to lose weight but it wouldn’t happen. However, in the past year or two “the weight loss has been dramatic”, she said.
