Drug dropped from PBAC meeting

Posted 7 July 2026 AM

A last-minute update to the PBAC’s agenda shows AstraZeneca’s new asthma treatment Breztri Aerosphere will no longer be considered at the meeting this week, with a total of 62 submissions to be considered.

Breztri Aerosphere, which combines three active ingredients (budesonide plus glycopyrronium and formoterol) is currently listed on the PBS for the maintenance treatment to prevent exacerbations and relieve symptoms in adults with moderate, severe, or very severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) who require treatment with a combination of an inhaled corticosteroid (ICS), a long-acting beta2-agonist (LABA), and a long-acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA).
