Gilead has donated more than 2,000 vials of its intravenous antiviral remdesivir to Uganda to help tackle the outbreak of Ebola Bundibugyo virus disease (BVD).
Caused by the rare Bundibugyo ebolavirus, BVD has no approved vaccine or treatment but overnight, World Health Organisation (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said a trial of two drugs is expected to start next week.
