For the first time in Deloitte’s 16 years of analysis, obesity has displaced oncology as the largest contributor to late-stage pipeline value, with the firm warning that this shift could heighten “exposure to therapeutic-area-specific shocks”.
The findings detailed in Deloitte’s latest report, ‘Navigating the GLP-1 boom: Measuring the return from pharmaceutical innovation’ shows obesity assets, almost exclusively driven by GLP-1/GIP candidates, now account for roughly 38 per cent of projected commercial inflows and 25 per cent of forecast sales from 2025 late-stage pipeline
