Over two-fifths of Australians have been prescribed medicines not subsidised via the PBS, with strong demand across the political spectrum for investing more money in the scheme.
The Still Out Of Pocket survey by the McKell Institute of 1,506 Australian voters in November last year revealed 43 per cent of Australians had been offered or prescribed medicine that was not listed on the PBS, with the number increasing to 51 per cent of Baby Boomers or older.
