Minister for Health and Aged Care Mark Butler has warned fewer medicines may be launched in Australia and global instability is going to influence the government's response to the HTA review, in a wide-ranging keynote to the AFR Healthcare Summit this morning at the Hilton Sydney.
"The most seismic developments has been US moves to implement Most Favored Nation pricing policies for prescription medicines in that country," Butler said, noting around half of global pharmaceutical volume passes through the US, generating 70-80 per cent of global profits.
