Australia riding 'escalator to failure'

A top respiratory specialist has described Australia's treatment guidelines for COPD as an "escalator to failure” necessitating multiple hospitalisations or attacks before a patient can receive more treatment.

Dr Sanjay Ramakrishnan who presented at the Thoracic Society ANZ Conference in Perth over the weekend said the current Australian COPD treatment guidelines were “not in sync with the rest of the world".
