Who earned most from the PBS?

Posted 14 January 2025 AM

Two companies earned more than a billion dollars on the PBS in the 2024-25 financial year, figures in the PBS Expenditure and Prescriptions Report reveal.

The report shows top 20 pharma earned $12.3 billion from reimbursements for medications funded under Section 85 and Section 100 of the PBS, including Prescriber Bag and under co-payment prescriptions, around 63.7 per cent of total PBS spending. However, the figures do exclude drugs funded under Efficient Funding of Chemotherapy, which totalled $2.5 billion over 2024-25.
