Johnson & Johnson and Bayer have racked up more US$30 billion in corporate fines, penalties and settlements over the past five years, putting them among America’s most penalised companies.
J&J’s 24 fines (including settlements and penalties) between 2020 and 2024 added up to US$18 billion, putting it second only to the multinational 3M, which had fines totalling US$18.7 billion.
