After nine gruelling months of negotiations, the Federal Government and Pharmacy Guild of Australia signed the 8th Community Pharmacy Agreement (8CPA) today which includes a $3 billion boost and total funding of $26.5 billion over five years.
Under the five-year agreement which kicks off on 1 July, $22.5 billion will be paid to community pharmacies to dispense prescriptions; $2.1 billion for a new Additional Community Supply Support Payment and $1.05 billion over five years for other pharmacy services and programs, including Dose Administration Aids, MedsChecks, Staged Supply of medicines, and an increased Regional Pharmacy Maintenance Allowance.
