US Govt funds access to Aussie drug

ASX-listed Neurizon has received a boost from a multi-million dollar grant from the US National Institutes of Health to expand clinical trials of its leading drug candidate.

Up to 200 people living with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) who are otherwise ineligible to participate in clinical trials will be provided with access to NUZ-001 for up to 96 weeks as a result of the grant.

The multi-year grant will go to the Sean M Healey & AMG Center for ALS at Mass General Brigham to run an Expanded Access Protocol (EAP), a 'Compassionate Use' pathway for people with serious or life threatening diseases to access an investigational therapy that has not yet been approved by the FDA, where they can't get into a trial.
