Patients pick best pharma but there's a problem
Neurology patient groups have named Roche the best Big Pharma when it comes to corporate reputation and while they say industry as a whole has improved across most metrics in the last five years - there's a problem with a drop off in pharma innovation.
Roche, listed alongside its partners Genentech and Chugai took the crown according to patient groups who had 'worked with' 11 Big Pharma companies, followed by Boehringer Ingelheim in second place and Novartis in third. For patients groups who were only 'familiar with' the companies, Roche remained number one, followed by Novartis then AbbVie.
Across a broader range of 19 companies Roche held onto the crown according to patients that had both 'worked' with the companies and those who were only 'familiar' with them. In the 'worked with' cohort UCB took second place followed by Boehringer. In the 'familiar with' group UCB took silver while Novartis bumped Boehringer out of third spot.
