TGA approval lands in the nick of time

AstraZeneca’s new asthma treatment, set to be considered for public funding this month has been approved for use in Australia.

The TGA has approved a new form of Breztri Aerosphere, which combines three active ingredients (budesonide plus glycopyrronium and formoterol) for the treatment of asthma in patients 12 years of age and older who are not adequately controlled with a combination of a medium or high dose inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) and a long-acting beta 2- agonist (LABA).

The new form contains twice as much glycopyrrolate while the budesonide and formoterol doses are unchanged.
