Aussie deal struck on biosimilar
A languishing drug may restart the process for PBS listing with Samsung Bioepis and Organon announcing they have expanded their Development and Commercialisation Agreement to include a fourth biosimilar in Australia.
"We are proud to build on our longstanding partnership with Organon to expand the availability of our biosimilar portfolio for Australian patients," Samsung Bioepis Vice President and Head of Commercial Strategy for International Markets, Jinhan Chung, said. "This expanded agreement reflects Samsung Bioepis' enduring commitment to widening global access to biosimilars."
Organon already sponsor three of Samsung's biosimilars on the PBS, which it inherited when it was spun off from MSD. They are Brenzys, referencing Pfizer's Enbrel, launched in 2017; Renflexis, referencing J&J's Remicade and also launched in 2017; and Hadlima, referencing AbbVie's Humira and listed in 2021.
