First we had injections, then we had pills. Now, Novo Nordisk has signed a deal with Californian biotech Vivani Medical to evaluate a semaglutide implant.
In its latest move to regain the initiative against rival Eli Lilly in the GLP-1 wars, Novo will assess NPM-139, a semaglutide implant for chronic weight management that Vivani has developed using its NanoPortal platform technology.
