Following a week-long hammering from The Australian newspaper over the failing PBS, Health Minister Mark Butler has curiously chosen a treatment that took almost five years and a series of bitter negotiations to reach patients, to illustrate the scheme "at its best."
In an opinion piece published in the Weekend Australian, the Minister singled out Johnson & Johnson's CAR T cell therapy Carvykti for multiple myeloma, as a shining example of the scheme operating at its finest.
