The winner of this year's GSK Award for Research Excellence will spend the $150,000 prize money to further propel his pioneering work in infectious disease detection that combines AI and genetic sequencing.
Professor Edward Holmes picked up the grant for his use of AI and metatranscriptomics - the process of sequencing all genetic material in a sample to determine which viruses, bacteria, and other pathogens are active.
