Insurance hurdle for targeted drugs

The Federal Government is seeking the public's view on life insurance companies using genetic test results in underwriting, after researchers warned at-risk Aussie's are being deterred from undergoing testing - and thus missing out on targeted therapies.

Ethical, Legal and Social Advisor in Public Genomics at Monash University, Jane Tiller, is leading the push to ban life insurance companies from using genetic test results to discriminate between applicants' risk-rated insurance in Australia.
