The TGA is investigating nitrosamine impurities in two genericised antidepressant meds with Alphapharm's product already recalled.
Duloxetine and fluoxetine belong to the drug class known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) and are both used to treat major depression. Duloxetine is also indicated for pain and anxiety disorders while fluoxetine is also used for obsessive-compulsive disorder, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder.
