Surge in late-stage cancers looms

Experts are warning that the fall in tests for cancer that occurred during the pandemic has not recovered to pre-pandemic levels, indicating a looming crisis in late-stage cancer diagnoses.

The Continuity of Care Collaboration (CCC), a not-for-profit organisation made up of more than 30 healthcare organisations, including Medicines Australia, Pathology Awareness Australia, and the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia, conducted a detailed analysis of healthcare testing data from 2020 to 2023 to spot the concerning trend.
