The Federal Government should review the PBS in relation to medications for ADHD, according to a Senate Inquiry into ADHD that tabled its final report in parliament on Tuesday.
"There were widespread calls for more medications to be subsidised by the PBS and for age and dosage restrictions to be removed, in particular the restrictions requiring a childhood diagnosis of ADHD, to make medications more affordable and accessible," the report reads. Of the $90 million spent on ADHD medications in FY 2019, $26.6 million came out of the patients' pocket.
