Pharma backs Australia’s World Cup campaign

Biogen is getting behind Australia’s Poweroos, as the national powerchair football team prepares to compete at the 2026 Fédération Internationale de Powerchair Football Association (FIPFA) Powerchair Football World Cup.

Well-known for spinal muscular atrophy drug Spinraza, ALS drug Qalsody, and Friedreich’s ataxia treatment Skyclarys, Biogen says the sponsorship reflects a broader commitment to supporting people living with rare and neuromuscular conditions and helping create more inclusive communities.

The Poweroos are the reigning Asia Pacific Oceania Zone Champions and ranked fifth in the world. Eight players will travel as part of the national squad to compete against the world's leading powerchair football nations when the World Cup takes place in Buenos Aires, Argentina next month.
