Patients choosing between meds or meals

One in eight people diagnosed with a blood cancer delay or cancel treatment because of the cost, and the Leukaemia Foundation has started a campaign to change that.

With September being Blood Cancer Month, the Foundation has launched Cut the Cost of Cancer, a campaign to highlight the hidden financial tolls placed on people when they or a loved one are diagnosed with a blood cancer, which happens around 55 times every day. 

"Australians facing blood cancer are immediately thrown into a financial storm they never saw coming," Leukaemia Foundation CEO, Chris Tanti, said. "No one should ever have to choose between getting the cancer treatment and care they need to survive and putting food on the table or paying their rent or mortgage, yet our research shows that is exactly what is happening.
