$30 billion deal wins approval

The merger between Chemist Warehouse and Sigma has received overwhelming approval from shareholders, and is now weeks away from being implemented.

In a Scheme meeting held yesterday, 100 per cent of CW shareholders voted all of their shares in favour of the scheme resolution. Earlier that day an Emergency General Meeting of Sigma shareholders passed all the related resolutions by more than 90 per cent.

The merger will see the entity continue to be run by Sigma CEO Vikesh Ramsunder, with CW co-founder Mario Verrocchi reporting to him. More than 97 per cent of Sigma shareholders voted in favour of this, along with CW Chief Commercial Officers Damien Gance and Chief People Officer Danielle Di Pilla taking executive roles. CW co-founder Jack Gance received 91.92 per cent of the vote to become a non-executive director.
