PBAC defends deferral decision

Posted 31 October 2024 AM

The Department of Health is exploring options to deal with the "highest ever" number of submissions to a PBAC meeting, including using the intracycle meeting to reduce the number of submissions held over to the July meeting, Pharma in Focus has learned.

The government is facing intense criticism over the decision to defer 24 major submissions and 21 minor submissions to the March PBAC meeting, identifying 32 major submissions to consider in March after "recognising the number of major submissions would be well above the highest ever received for a single PBAC meeting", a Department of Health spokesperson told Pharma in Focus.
