What's driving industry departures?

With job security decimated by widespread restructures and ongoing economic uncertainty, 59 per cent of pharma professionals are considering jobs outside industry, according to a new survey.

Two age cohorts - those 25 to 34 and 35 to 44 - are the most likely to consider leaving industry (60 per cent for each group). Employees aged 45 to 54 were the least likely but even so, 56 per cent said they would consider broadening their horizons.

The findings are the result of a survey conducted by BioSpace between 25 June and 8 July this year and while the respondents were confined to the US, restructuring in many companies has been global with job security also identified as one of the biggest sources of stress for Australian employees and the main driver for finding a new job.
