Aussie pharma chiefs climb Rich List

The fortunes of those who made the Rich List in Australia by selling pharmaceuticals surged over the past year, pushing them up the ranks.

The Australian Financial Review Rich List 2023 is topped by the usual suspects of mining and property, but a few people in the health sector have seen their worth soar.

Dennis Bastas, Chairman, CEO, and joint equity partner of Arrotex, saw his net worth grow by a third over the past year. It rose by 33.1 per cent to come in at $1.32 billion, which places him in position 105 on the 200-strong Rich List this year, up from 139 last year. Arrotex makes about one-third of the medicines dispensed under the PBS each year.
