Industry body names new leader

Dr Cameron McLaren has become the new President of the Private Cancer Physicians of Australia (PCPA), succeeding the organisation’s long-time leader, Associate Professor Christopher Steer.

“It’s an honour to take on the presidency of PCPA and to build on the foundation Christopher has established over the past 12 years,” McLaren said. “Private cancer care in Australia is at an important turning point, and I’m committed to continuing PCPA’s work advocating for equitable, timely access to treatment for every cancer patient, wherever they are cared for.”

The private cancer sector is navigating the interdependency between private and public cancer care, Medicare reform, health technology assessment (HTA) modernisation and the growing demand for equitable, timely access to cancer treatment, the PCPA said.
