Manufacturer and biotech team up

The Sydney-based Viral Vector Manufacturing Facility (VVMF) has signed a letter of intent to collaborate with Melbourne biotech Mirugen on the evaluation and potential development of a gene therapy candidate.

The adeno-associated virus (AAV)-based candidate aims to restore sight for people with Retinitis Pigmentosa, a genetic condition characterised by progressive degeneration of photoreceptors and associated vision loss. The condition affects 1.5 million people worldwide, Mirugen says.
