Shortage of chemo drugs extended

Shortages of Baxter Healthcare’s chemotherapies are set to continue, with all PBS listed strengths of Holoxan now expected to be impacted until mid-December.

In early February, the pharma notified the TGA of shortages of Endoxan and Holoxan, which started mid-March due to manufacturing issues and a subsequent increase in demand.

These medicines are used to treat various types of cancer. Endoxan is also used to treat some diseases of the immune system, and to prevent rejection of organ transplants.
