It's over: 40-year partnership ends

MSD will take over the supply of its vaccines in Australia starting from 1 January 2026, ending a four-decade long collaboration with CSL Seqirus.

The move sees MSD become responsible for the supply and distribution in Australia of its pneumococcal vaccine PneumoVax 23, as well as its HPV vaccine, Gardasil 9.

Gardasil especially has seen a huge success since its funding on the National Immunisation Program in 2007, with the 2025 Cervical Cancer Elimination Progress Report finding there was not a single documented case of cervical cancer among women under 25 years of age across Australia in 2021.
