25-year-ride for Aussie trailblazers

QBiotics is celebrating its 25-year anniversary by showcasing its novel approach to drug discovery and development at the World Science Festival Brisbane (WSFB), which kicks off with an exclusive opening event tonight.

Starting in a makeshift basement laboratory at the turn of the century, QBiotics has since created a drug discovery platform called EcoLogic, a knowledge-driven approach that targets plant material with specific biological activity that has identified a pipeline of cell signalling small molecules for development.

This includes tigilanol tiglate with anticancer activity against a range of solid tumours, EBC-1013 treating chronic and acute wounds and burns, and programs in antibiotics and anti-inflammatories.
