Amid job cuts, boss trims pay

After masterminding a massive company-wide restructure which came with thousands of global job losses, Bayer CEO Bill Anderson is also feeling the pinch, seeing his pay packet shrink.

Last year, his total compensation package dropped more than 20 per cent year-on-year to AU$15.1 million (8.84 million euros), down from $19.3 million (11.24 million euros).

While on paper it appears to be a substantial hit,  Anderson's pay in 2023 - his first year in the top job - included a one-time "indemnity payment" of $6.5 million (3.8 million euros) to lure him from Roche where he was chief of pharma.
