Asthma, cancer drugs PBS winners

Sanofi's biologic Dupixent will receive expanded PBS reimbursement from 1 April after being recommended by the PBAC in November for patients with uncontrolled severe asthma.

Although Dupixent is not the first biologic to be listed for asthma - that honour belongs to Novartis' Xolair which was among the comparators chosen by Sanofi - the company said its listing marks the first and only biologic therapy available on the PBS to target two key proteins responsible for the underlying type 2 inflammation of the disease.
